Coding for All – new student courses
Two modules are now open to students in Year 1 or 2. You have to have 10 credits to ‘spend’.
You will learn Python (TB1: MLD140) and then more Python plus HTML and CSS (TB2: MLD141).
No previous experience is needed for MLD140, which is on Wednesdays, 9:00 to 11.00 in Haldane/PC Lab 9, taught by Marcos del Pozo Banos.
The modules run within the Languages for All scheme.
Coding for all other students and researchers in arts and humanities:
Very good sites which help you get started, with tutorials, include:
- Python Programming for the Humanities – 10 tutorials by Folgert Karsdorp
- The Programming Historian – the Lessons Directory includes a series of Python tutorials
- Comparitech courses on Python
And for more general purposes: Codecademy
Also of interest (this could become a very long list):
Visualisations
- Humanities + Design tools (Stanford)
- Palladio
- Nodegoat
Computational linguistics
…. to be continued
